Marcus C. Ford, M.D.Board Certified Fellowship TrainedHip & Knee Surgeon
Dr. Marcus Ford is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with advanced fellowship training in hip and knee replacement, resurfacing and preservation. A native of Wichita Falls, Texas, Dr. Ford earned his medical degree in state, graduating valedictorian of his class at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee - Campbell Clinic in Memphis before heading to St. Louis, Mo. and Washington University, where he completed a hip and knee joint reconstruction and preservation fellowship.
Dr. Ford began his joint replacement career in 2017 as an attending physician at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis and as an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. While in Memphis, he was fortunate to build a practice focused on outpatient primary hip and knee replacement along with complex revision total joint surgery.
To this day, Dr. Ford remains focused on joint replacement techniques that allow younger patients to recover faster and remain highly active following hip or knee replacement.
He performs a ligament-sparing kinematic knee replacement (KA) technique that is customized to each patient and avoids ligament releases, helping to speed recovery and promote long-term satisfaction, pain relief, function and motion when compared to traditional knee replacement.
Dr. Ford also uses a minimally invasive, tissue-sparing total hip replacement approach that allows appropriate patients to go home the same day as surgery and a bone-sparing hip resurfacing procedure that promotes return to competitive sports for active individuals. In addition to innovative surgical techniques, he utilizes rapid recoveryprotocols that often allow patients to safely go home within hours of surgery.
Dr. Ford continues to be involved in clinical research focused on improved recovery and safety in total joint replacement. He is the principal investigator for numerous research projects and has been awarded several research grants, including a FARE grant from the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS). He was awarded the 2023 outstanding Clinical Research Award at AAHKS for his research in tranexamic acid and benefits after total knee replacement. He remains active in surgeon education both within the industry and with the joint reconstruction fellowship at the Texas Hip and Knee Center.
Dr. Ford and his wife have two children and enjoy spending time with extended family in the Fort Worth Area. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
